Critical social justice ideology views education as a tool for political change. In K-12 schools, it instructs teachers to focus lessons on power, oppression, and identity, often dividing people into “oppressors” and “oppressed.” It encourages students to take action based on a particular political worldview. This teaching framework, sometimes called “critical pedagogy,” is promoted through many teacher training programs, curricular materials, and school initiatives.
