NAVI has developed a Parent Toolkit to help parents spot signs of extreme ideologies in schools. These can include terms like “equity,” “liberation,” “anti-racism,” “privilege,” and “transformative,” as well as lessons focused on identity, power, and oppression. Parents may also see practices such as racial affinity groups or the elimination of honors classes. The toolkit offers more examples and actions parents can take.

Yes. Critical social justice frameworks often rank groups based on perceived privilege and power. In many cases, Jews are categorized as “white” or “privileged,” which erases the reality of Jewish history, identity, and antisemitism. This framing can lead to bias against Jews, especially around topics like Israel or Zionism. In some classrooms, Israel is falsely depicted as a colonial oppressor, distorting the history of Zionism and the Jewish people’s connection to the land, fueling bias rather than understanding.

Start by asking respectful, informed questions. You have every right to know what your child is being taught. Request curriculum materials, talk to teachers and administrators, and document your concerns. Connect with other parents, attend school board meetings, and speak up—especially when you see bias, activism, or political messaging embedded in lessons. Our toolkit includes additional suggestions and resources to help you advocate effectively.

NAVI equips parents with resources and tools to understand what’s being taught, speak to teachers and administrators, and connect with others who share their concerns. We also support local leadership and help communities advocate for academic excellence and open inquiry.

No. We are a nonpartisan, nonreligious organization. NAVI began as an effort to alert the Jewish community to the dangers of ideological intolerance and rising antisemitism. Today, our mission is to strengthen K–12 education by promoting fundamental values—like free expression, fairness, and pluralism—in order to meet student needs, respect diverse communities, and restore education’s role in preparing citizens for a free society.

We believe that change in education begins with parents and communities. NAVI offers tools and support to help you make that change in your school, your district, and beyond. You can sign up for updates, share our resources, attend local events, and connect with us on social media.
