You may notice some of our older content is attributed to “JILV” (Jewish Institute for Liberal Values). This is the same organization now known as NAVI (North American Values Institute).
NAVI was originally founded as the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values when a coalition of rabbis, Jewish professionals, journalists, and thought leaders came together to address threats to free expression both within the Jewish community and broader society. The founding group authored “A letter to our fellow Jews on equality and liberal values” and established an organization dedicated to upholding the traditional values of the American Jewish community, particularly freedom of expression.
As we’ve evolved, our name has changed to reflect our expanded mission, but our core commitment to defending liberal values and free speech remains unchanged.
Whether branded as JILV or NAVI, all articles in our archives represent our continuous work and shared values.
